Note that the OP is using Word *2000* which doesn't have a Ribbon *or* a
watermark feature.

I've tried many different ways trying to add a text watermark to my document
without any luck. I later discovered that the instructions were designed for
Word 2003 and Word 2007, therefore they would not work.

I would appreciate it very much, if someone could post the instructions s/he
used with Word 2000.

On the page layout ribbon select the watermark option from the Page
Background group. It provides a text option

I re-installed my Word 2000 disk. It does not provide a watermark option. I
guess that is my dilemma. Thanks for offering to help.
