Hey everyone,

(sorry if this is a dup - I posted this same question earlier today, but 7
hours later, I still don't see it appearing in this list).

I've created a bunch of rules (using Outlook 2003) that auto-move email to
specific subfolders so that it doesn't clutter my inbox. This works great
when I'm in front of Outlook, but the problem comes in when using my
Blackberry. You see, the Blackberry (company provided) only displays
messages if they are part of the INBOX in Outlook. It doesn't display
messages from any other subfolder. So when used with Blackberry, these rules
are causing a problem in that mail doesn't show up on the Blackberry when I
need it to.

Is there a way to create one rule that 'disables' all other rules
temporarily at 5:00 PM each day? What I want after 5:00 is for all email to
come into the Inbox (i.e. so I can read it in the evenings when I just have
my BB). Then, say at 8:00 AM the next day, I want the original rules to
turned on again (the ones that move email out of the Inbox as it arrives).
The cycle would repeat itself daily.

Hope this makes sense. Any insights / step-by-step recommendations would be
great. Thanks!

Joe

Not as part of the product. I'm sure a solution could always be developed
with a custom rules DLL.

Out of curiousity, is this an Exchange environment?

Oh you may want to look at the steps in
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/...groups101.mspx for
how to set up OE to use the microsoft newsgroup server. You'll probably
find it a much more satisfying solution.

Probably would have made more sense to reply to the other post, but, well...

My thought is if you could force the rule to be client side only and you
shut down outlook, then the rule wouldn't be able to run. Of course, if
Outlook needs to be running for your blackberry sync to work, then that's
not going to work and, iirc, my comment of doing it via a custom written
solution is the solution.
