I have to create a presentation in which I need images of my desktop and all
of the screens that are shown for each step. This is a how to type of
presentation and short of taking a photograph of every screen, is there a way
to copy the screens into a slide so that I can add text also? I am a novice
at this. I would appreciate any and all help that could be given.
Thanks,

Take a look at Camtasia (www.camtasia.com). It's designed just for this type
of thing.

See also: http://www.pptmagic.com/articles/dynamicppt.htm for how you can
use PowerPoint's interactivity features to create "faux" demos.

Thanks Glenna, but I guess that I am a real idiot, because I looked at both
suggestions and I am still as in the dark as a burned out light bulb. I
need to be able to have a picture of my desktop on the slide so that I can
walk anyone through what steps to take to save a file. I am sure that it is
something simple but I have yet to figure it out. I am not able to purchase
software for this laptop since it belongs to the company. So if you have any
other suggestions I would again appreciate any and all help possible.

Use your Print Screen capability from your keyboard. If you're on a desk top
just click on the PrtScn button located above (slightly to the left of) your
number key pad. Hold down the Fn key at the same time if you're on a laptop.

This will automatically copy the screen image.

Go to PowerPoint. Paste the image (Ctrl-V) onto your slide. Crop as needed.
