I have an xp recover disk, so it formats the whole drive. how can i steal

partition magic?

The only way you can create, delete, resize or merge existing partitions,
and not harm your existing Windows installation, is to use
a third-party partitioning program such as Partition Magic 8.

Dual booting Windows XP or 2000 with Linux

Note: Since you have a "Recovery CD", it would be best to
install a second hard drive (slave) and install Linux on it.

I figured as much.So are you saying its possible to do without getting a
second drive? I dont really care about the data on my computer, and if
needed, I can send to another for recovery or a floppy.Linux seems to be on
the rise just like mozilla and opera and other stuff. Ill give it ashot,
THANKS

You would be much further ahead to purchase a second drive to install Linux
on and then boot between drives.
