How to Create A List of Sender Email Addresses

Objective: I would like to create a list of the sender email addresses of
messages that I have received over the past year to use in redesigning my
email processing rules. I need ACTUAL email addresses NOT DISPLAY names to do
this.

Background: I have an "Old Mail" folder which contain all of the messages
that I have received, and I attempted to create a custom view of this folder
by using just the "From" field of the messages within this folder. The
problem is that the "From" field shows "Display" names rather than actual
email addresses. I can not use display names in creating email rules unless
the Display name is saved within my contact folder. I don't want to create a
contact file for every sender so only a small fraction of these display names
are withing my contacts. Besides .... display names are not unique ...some
companies use the same display name regardless of the sender function ... for
example "American Express" is displayed whether the email is for advertizing
or notifying account status.

Help Needed ... is there a way to create a list of the actual sender email
addresses using received messages?

2 choices: an addin that grabs them or use a cfg to display the sender
address. You can create a custom view with only this address, then copy and
paste into Excel, sort and use a formula to identify duplicates.

A cfg which shows the address and instructions to install it is at

Perfect solution ...many thanks. I was able to get this work on my XP
machine with Outlook 2003 ...no problem.

However ... I could not find the cfg file to install that I know was saved
on my Vista machine. All the other prestored cfg files were visible and I
verified that I had saved the email.cfg by opening IE as administrator ...but
could not find it when time came to install it using Outlook 2003.

I can get by with the XP cabability, but if you know what I need to do to
make this work on the Vista pc ...I would appreciate your help.

Many thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

It works on vista, but vista is weird with folder permissions - I believe I
had to give permission to save files in the forms folder. I'll get a
workable solution and put it on the webpage so others know what to do to.

Diane,

I discovered a way to make this work in Vista. I saved the email.cfg file
first to the desktop...then I copied it (dragged) into the ...FORM/1033
folder. After that I had no problem with the rest of the instructions.

What confused me was I was getting a clear and certain indication that I was
able to save the email.cfg file directly into the 1033 folder ...it showed up
there when I repeated the process and got a "replace?" window ... so I
thought it was saving ...but apparently not. Saving it first to the desktop
worked.

Thanks again for your great assistance ...this saved me many hours in
restructuring my email rules.
