How do I create a link in outlook 2003 so that when I drag and drop email
from my inbox to the folder it is stored in a file on my networked drive? (or
is there a better way?)

No, you'll have to drag & drop them from Outlook into an open Explorer
folder.
You can of course create a link to a network folder in Outlook in the
Shortcuts Navigation.

Outlook 2003 doesn't have that ability. Just open the folder beforehand and
drag to the explorer window.
