We have a Contact List in our Public Folders. We assign a category to each
contact. Is there anyway of creating a distribution list or sending eMails
based on the category?

Apply the By Category view. Select all the items in the desired category. Choose Actions | Mail Merge and follow the prompts.

The trouble with mail merge is you can't send attachments. Isn't there some
way to make a distribution list from a category group?
thx

Instead of creating a DL, I'd choose Actions | New Message to Contacts and then cut and paste the names from the To field to Bcc. Creating and maintaining a DL beyond a handful of relatively static members is just way too much trouble.

I pretty much just came to the same conclusion myself!
Thanks, I appreciate your input.
