How to create "clone" folder in Windows Explorer

I'm one of those old duffers who rides the trailing edge of computer
technology due to a chronic state of impoverishment (I'm disabled and
on a slim SS pension). So I rely on hand-me-down hardware and
software.

I just got a "new" (only 6 years old) computer as a gift from a friend
and installed Windows 2000 on it.

One feature of Windows 2000 that I really like is the "My Documents"
folder that appears at the very first level of the Windows Explorer
directory tree. That sure beats having to click down through "My
Computer \ Drive C: \ Documents and Settings \ Administrator \ My
Documents" each time I want to access one of my data files.

It seems to me that the "My Documents" folder that appears at the first
level of the directory tree could be called a "clone," because it seems
to be a real-time copy of the "actual" "My Documents" folder that is
buried way own in the "Administrator" folder.

So, I'm wondering what the trick is that allows that "clone" of my "My
Documents" folder to appear at the very top of the directory tree.

I'm asking, because there are a couple of other folders, buried even
further down in "My Documents" that I would love to be able to "clone"
in the same way and have these "clones" appear along with "My
Documents' at the top of my "Windows Explorer" directory tree.

Is that something that a novice Windows 2000 user like me could manage
to do, without totally messing up his file management system?

Have you got a My Documents shortcut on the desktop?
If you have it provides an easier method of accessing any folders contained
within My Documents.
Then no need to access via explorer.

Also if your PC came with MS Office, depending on version, you may be able
to use the office toolbar to accomplish similar

The My Documents folder is being shown at the top via a setting in Tools >
Folder Options > View. Scroll down to where it says, "Show My Documents on the
Desktop". You can toggle this feature on or off.

While in Windows Explorer, you can copy or move any folder and its contents to
the Desktop by a drag&drop with a Rclick. They will not be at the top like My
Documents is. Leave the system and special folders alone.

Hope this helps,
