I create a bridge and my internet doesnt work

Hi

I have a cable modem attached to a NIC which works fine. I have now
connected a laptop to this machine using 802.11b

If I highlight these 2 connections and create a bridge it is created
ok but my cable modem connection no longer works.

What am I doing wrong? Do i need to configure the bridge?

Any help appreciated
