sorry for my english

yesterday I have had this experience with the registry of w2000:

I install w2000 , I go in regedit and I export the registry (in order to
hold it safely)

I make some things (installations ..etc..) then I decide to return back.
Could you think anything easier ;-)

I go in regedit I choose import from registry I select my reg file...
WHAT!!

It cannot import it!! Are you crazy? you have yet made!!!!
In order to complicate the things, regedit imports only a piece of it,
therefore my registry is in part that old one and in part the new .

I say myself: may be some of the keys are in use and it cannot modify them,
seems logical...

Then I try the following solutions: Temporary modality Nothing... same thing
Cd boot and recovery console : I have not found between the commandos
regedit or restore or scanreg...

Just to avoid misunderstanding i'am administrator, I have made double click
on the reg file but equal, I have carried it in format text but it does
not import it equal....
message is something like cannot import file error in

Perhaps i have forgotten something ... may be microsoft have ??? ;-)

Importing the entire registry is not really practical, or even possible. If
you run Programs|Accessories|System Tools|Backup, then choose ERD, then if
you check the box for "Also backup....", then the reg will also be backed up
to
\%windir%\repair\RegBack
leaving the
\%windir%\repair\
directory files intact as original installation.
