I have been having lots of freezes and error closing of Explorer lately. Also
it will not hold my settings at all. I was searching in System Information
today and found that there are two files missing in Explorer. iecont.dll and
iecontlc.dll Could this be the problem? If so how can I fix it. I went to
Microsoft and couldn't find anything except to remove and re-install Internet
Explorer. That was not an option in Windows Xp Add and Remove program. Their
directions was to repair or re-install Windows XP. I would rather not have to
do that if I don't absolutely have to. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks so much!

The files iecont.dll and icontlc.dll do not need to be present to use IE.

IE Tools > Internet Options > Are the Security and Advanced tabs present
here?

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

What exactly did you mean by "I went to Microsoft..."?
Did you actually call Microsoft for support or just search their Knowledge Base
at http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=0?
Most likely, your system has been infested / compromised by some malware.
Best to follow PA Bear's advice.
In case you have not called Microsoft and would like to -

Thank you very much for your info. I had ran AdAware and Norton Anti Virus
with nothing showing up. I had CwShreddar but hadn't thought to run it. I did
have My Web Search on here. Removed all of it and it seems to be working
better now. Will know more in a few days I guess. Thanks again!

Thanks for your reply, I had searched the Knowledge Base for days at
Microsoft. I do believe I might have fixed the problem now. I found My Web
Search on here and removed it. It seems to be working better now.

YW.

Hope you used CWShredder v2.19.

If problems persist, post your HijackThis log to one of the forums.
