My drive letters are not recognized. Here's the deal:
I'm wanting to put files on an sd card for my palm. I inserted the empty
card into the slot and started to transfer files. "Error: Cannot copy (file):
Cannot find the specified file
Make sure you specify the correct path and file name"
This happens with any file. btw, the same files CAN be moved to the desktop
or cd in the cd drive.
OK. I insert another used card and it isn't read! (it works fine in my Palm)
Next thing I know, my removeable disk "I" is missing from the list!

I plugged in my mp3 player into the usb port and the "I" shows up as my
player and a new "J" (which was never there before) is born!!

I don't know what I am looking at in Device Manager, but as I expand
everything listed I see no exclamation points and all the IDE ATP etc
controllers say they're functioning. The "storage volumes" (all six
'generic') are fine too.

Is there anything a plain, old (might be my problem - lol) internet,
wordprocessor, Palm Desktop, digital photo editing program user can do? (just
to let you know my level of expertise)

Perhaps your card reader died.

Some card readers just aren't up to it. Mine works fine in one USB
socket but consistently fails in the other. Yet all other USB devices
work in either USB socket!

waaaaa. Do I have to go to the guy who put it together to get another one?
Or should I just buy a usb reader?

I can't say. I have no idea who put it together, where they live, or
what they would provide as a solution. You certainly can buy a reader if
that is the most convenient solution for you. I merely made the
observation that seems to fit the symptoms.
