Crashing Explorer?

After installing WD, my system seems really unstable. On a daily basis
explorer.exe crashes and restarts, and system tray loses a lot of the apps i
had running (processes still running in background, but not found in system
tray with icons). Anyone else having this issue?

I'm not sure if theres a conflict with some other antispyware I'm using:
SpyBot, Secretmaker.

Don't know about the crashes, but a common effect of certain types of crash
is that a number of tray icons disappear even though the applications are
still running. (I think this is down to the icons not being redrawn in the
tray because there is no message to say they are no longer visible, or
something along those lines).

FWIW, the release notes state no known conflicts. I'd certainly think that
Spybot Search & Destroy is thoroughly covered, not sure about the other you
list.

Ditto on the unstability. I am running SpyBot and Norton Antivirus.
Everything was fine when I had MS Spyware. With Defender, every time I run a
check with any of the three programs I get about 1/3rd of the way through the
check and the system just shuts off. If I uninstall Defender everytihing
works fine again.

Okay, I tried the full scan and the computer shut off around the 50% mark on
the virus and spyware scan. I went back to the site and did a quick scan and
that made it all the way through with no viruses or spyware detected.
Currently I do not have Defender installed, so I don't know what's going on
now. Spybot won't make it through a full scan either. Any thoughts?

Do you get any memory dumps, or useful information in the System event
log--at the time of these crashes?
