I had a mirror, the boot disk crashed, I changed the boot.ini but neither
drives are loading anything up. Using the diskette with the modifed
boot.ini, I have booted up a mirrored server before but this time I get to
the Windows splash screen and have the option to press F8, but no matter what
I choose (i.e. last know.., safe, normal...) the system get to the loading
windows then I get a blue screen of death (stop error: 0x0000007b)
Any suggestions are more than welcome.

I always had the impression that a mirrored set of HDDs was meant to
prevent such behaviour?!

Isn't it a different hardware failure? The RAID controller perhaps?

This article has a really good action plan for this kind of BSOD, I think
all good suggestions are described here:

How to troubleshoot "Stop 0x0000007B" error messages in Windows 2000

I hope it helps....
