It seems that my laptop crashes every month. First I paid to have it fixed
and all they did was re-format it back to the original settings. Second time
I did it my self with the original disc. Now after just a few weeks it has
done it again. I have Norton and I always keep things up to date. It said
there was no virus. It did say this time that the file
system32\drivers\pci.sys was either corupt or missing. I checked with MS
but still cannnot cure the problem. It just won't start windows but it will
run the external keyboard and mouse. It is less than 2 years old. Do you
think I need a new computer AGAIN or what. Please HELP

You have a hardware problem.

Start by testing the RAM. Download memtest86+ from www.memtest.org

Then on to the hard drive, get the diagnostic tool from the
manufacturor of the hard drive. Seatools from Seagate will do in a
pinch.

You may have a heat issue, as well. But that's hard to fix in a laptop,
I'll allow others to give better advice on that subject.

After that, there aren't that many user-servicable parts in a
laptop.... Repairs become more difficult and expensive.

As an aside, what is the make and model of your machine?
