crash in selecting "other setting" in save movie wizard

The program worked great at first, but now each time I try to make a project, it fails. If I select "other setting" in the save movie wizard, I get a program crash each time. If I try to save using the best quality for my computer, the file size is so large that nothing ever happens (I am using a 5 second video clip as a test.) Thanks for any help in advance
