Hello.

During the installation of SP1, my computer crashed to a
blue screen, and immediately rebooted. Every boot after
that, it reboots right at the point that the desktop would
normally appear.

The same behavior occurs in safe mode.

I have put an old HD with Win2000 into the machine, and am
using it to boot. I have the HD with WinXP availible as a
second drive.

What can I do to remove whatever SP1 did, and get my
computer back?

Put the drive back.
Reboot tapping F8 each second.
Select "Last known good configuration" at the menu.

If that fails perform a Repair Installation:
