Am I not the only person that thinks XP, as well as all
the other gash that has gone before, is the buggiest
piece of shitty software to be produced by the monster?
In its inability to be compatible with other (superior)
software, It's like a petulant child that refuses to play
fair. And because there's no alternative, apart from
Linux or Mac, which is more expensive, we are stuffed.
It's the computer equivalent of being compelled to eat
Macdonalds every day and feel happy!

There, I've said it, Windows operating systems are duff.
Really duff. I can't carry on being dishonest any more.

Then you can write your own superior product. There I feel
better now.

if it's crappy why use it? Go to a mac, use Linux or something else.

Pretty narrow view from Lippo - MS-DOS 3.30a was superb. Windows for
Workgroups was acceptable. & Win-98 SE was OK too.

But, I still fail to see why people defend XP - I still (daily) crash things
like File Manager or some other M$ product - is that supposed to be quality
? I will repeat my ongoing criticism - M$ needs to address compatibility
between it's products, as well as addressing downward/backward
compatibility. I have had quite a few problems running Office 97 on XP Home
& my M$ buddy at work just says "But a newer version of Office" - but I
don't want a newer version - I like 97 - when it works, 97 gives me all the
functionality I need. I am NOT going to spend $100 to upgrade.

Right now, I am considering re-installing 98 SE - everything I have, worked
on that.

You can always go back to a shoe box and index cards! But when you lose a
card you would probably try to blame it on the wife/kids anyway! Obviously
YOU don't do anything wrong with your system!

Funny that many millions of people have no problems at all with Windows XP.

And that's exactly the problem - everyone else is (allegedly) OK.

I DON'T CARE IF EVERYONE ELSE HAS NO PROBLEMS (?). The one O/S I currently
have running fails on a regular basis. File Manager/Windows Explorer (I
still remember when I saw almost the same thing in XTREE GOLD) has failed
more than once just by trying to open a folder. Windows Media Player fails
every so often, Office fails about twice a week (it would fail more, if I
used it more). Currently my DVD, CD & floppy drives can't see when a disk
has been insterted 90% of the time. The drives have been working fine. Now
I've given up trying to use any of my removable media drives.

When I ran 98 SE, I really didn't have anything like as many problems as
now. No other product that I have in my house fails as often as my M$
products.

Microsoft definitely makes buggy software. That said, lets see if we can
get your system in a more stable state. Run utilities that will look for
problems on your disk -- checkdisk, anti-virus check (download up-to-date
definitions), anti-spyware (Spybot, Ad-Aware, and Spyware Blaster).
Consider installing more secure e-mail and web browser programs than IE
and Outlook Express -- Netscape and Opera come to mind. Then run a
program that cleans out the cobwebs in the registry ... something like
RegVac. If after all that, your computer is still unstable, reinstall
Windows from CD.

Does anyone else smell wet troll here?

Stop your whining. As others have stated, there are many millions of people
running stable installation of many versions of Windows. You have
options...use them. Either do a format and reinstall, or pay a professional
to work the bugs out of your system. Your petulant attitude and whiney,
sniveling little posts are a waste of bandwidth. If you want to vent, go
have a beer...go kick something...but stop wasting everyone else's time with
your petty little rants.
