I sure hate to be hearing this as I will be replacing my Ti4200 with an
ATI 9800 Pro in my main PC soon.

Right now with the Ti4200 (@ 288/612) I can play COD /BF1942, etc, all
day long without any problems at all, the only game that I've tried that
won't run is Mafia, it starts then dumps me to my desktop, but on my
other PC with an ATI Radeon 64 DDR VIVO Mafia plays just fine!

Ed

Cheers,
Ed

I have a 9800 flashed pro with the 3.9 driver, and my machine locked up once
tonight while playing COD. I waited for a minute, the VPU was reset by the
driver, and I continued. Very cool.

Currently playing Call of Duty, Max Payne 2, Devastation and Black Hawk Down
with Sapphire 9600 Pro and the 3.9's.

Had a brief problem when I first installed the 3.9's but updated my VIA
4in1's and reloaded DX9.0b and everything is sweet here. All eye-candy
turned on - you wont regret that 9800 Pro.

A1, the problem is not the catalyst drivers, it's OpenGL and AGP fast writes
or AGP fastwrites in general. Open the ATI controll panel and disable them
under SmartGART, reboot and all should be fine.

3.7s are the best and will probably solve your problem. i had the same
problem, and when i went back to 3.7, everything works great on every game.

Related problem. After loading COD and DX9 from the CD, my Unreal
Tournament G.O.T.Y edition, started freezing. Any ideas? BTW, COD plays
fine.

Your really vain if u think that, no matter what video card you have there
will always be some combination of hardware/software out there that it might
not like...I mean c'mon, the combinations are endless, you can't expect them
to try every POS motherboard on the market with every game....I'm sure there
are shitload of Nvidia owner who can say they are going to switch back to
ati as well. I myself only owned Nvidia for 1 day...then I came back to my
senses....
