cpu temperature

I have motherboard gigabyte GA 7N 400 L and AMD 2600+ Barton (not
overclocking).
my motherboard shows that cpu have temperature about 64 C with
standart cooler. isn`t it to much?

Maybe,maybe not. CPU temp sensors aren't very accurate. If the sysem runs and
doesn't lock up or crash then it's fine.

That does sound a bit high for a Barton 2600. Check CPU
voltage in the bios, check that fan is running. Check that
heatsink isn't installed backwards. You might consider
getting hold of some thermal compound, then removing
heatsink, inspecting interface, cleaning off old thermal
material with a plastic scraping tool (credit card?) and
petroleum solvent, then applying a very thin fresh coat of
thermal compound.

Do not remove the heatsink unless you're prepared to clean
off original material and use thermal compound, the original
thermal interface material can't be reused.

If all else seems right, perhaps the system has horrible
airflow and heasink fan is recycling heated exhaust air?
