My Dell computer is a little over 1 yr. old. Recently I've noticed a
high-pitched buzzing noise coming from the CPU box. Is this because I leave
the computer on (occasionally) for a couple of days without shutting it down?
What is this buzzing noise from?

I have a 1 year old Inspiron 1150 and the fan runs intermittently, at times
very loud. I would like to know what to do to stop that.

Ensure the fan is clean.... compressed air works great. If the fan isn't
working, then replace it as soon as possible.
