have an asus G5PD1.
I power the machine, the fans start but that's it... nothing on the display.

Checked display: it's ok.
Curious thing: CDROM doesn't open the disk support.. and no activity
shown... but when I disconnect the data cable between the motherboard and
the CDROM then it works ie I can open it, the led lights, etc

There is no disk activity I can hear

Tried to disconnect power in the disk, CD rom, remove sound card i.e. left
only the video: no change.

Power supply is ok (seems....) checked the +5 and +12 with a voltimeter.

I would like to avoid buying CPU and motherboard if the porblem is only in
one of them (seems?)
Any hints please?

many TIA!
luis

Luis

Buy a new motherboard that will accept your present processor.. if your
processor fails to work on the new board, replace it as well..

Do you hear a single "beep" from the computer that tells you that the
P.O.S.T. has completed successfully?
