Hi all
My mobo is:
here,

and I'm considering buying:
this
cpu.

Would the fact that its a) 3.066 as
opposed to 3.06 and [b:ed93721577]b)[/b:ed93721577] 1mb L2 cache as
opposed to 512kb L2 cache make a difference please?

Err.. you might want to try that question again, but in plain text
this time, because whatever you were posting had most of it stripped
when it was posted to Usenet.

Anyway, as best as I can tell, your motherboard recommends an older
"Northwood" Pentium 4 (512KB of cache, built on a 180nm manufacturing
process) and the chip you're looking to buy is a newer "Prescott" P4
(1MB of cache, built on a 90nm manufacturing process).

The bus speed is not an issue at all, they are actually the same speed
(3.06GHz and 3.066GHz are both just approximations of the speed
anyway). The cache isn't such an issue in and of itself, but it is
related to the manufacturing process mentioned above, and that is an
issue.

As to whether the motherboard will support a "Prescott" P4 or not,
that I couldn't say, especially since the motherboard model got
stripped out of your message!
