Hi all

Will this cpu (P4 2GHz, 128, 400 FSB) work ok with mobo Asus P4S333-VM? As
the mobo has a 512kb L2 cache and not a 128? Hmm

P4-2A GHz (Socket478, 400 FSB, L2 cache:512KB) ALL 1001

I'd try looking here, but this server is down right now (status 503 - too busy)
I suspect your description is for a Celeron, in which case Celeron 2GHz, L2=128KB, FSB400
would be fine. What won't work is a "Celeron D" or other 90nm tech processors.
But to be sure, I'd want to check the Pentium 4 section of this site, to
see if they make a 128KB version and still call it a P4. I thought 128KB made
it a Celeron.

If this is an Ebay listing, maybe the listing is a mistake.

The L2 cache is not part of the mobo - it is part of the processor.
The cache size is part of the naming convention, with smaller cache (lower performance)
processors being the Celerons.

In the Asus table, the entry is here.

Celeron 2.0 GHz (400 FSB, L2 cache:128KB) ALL 1007 <---

Before changing processors, make sure you have a minimum of revision
1007 BIOS. The Asus table shows what the minimum BIOS revision is,
to get the processor to work. An entry of "ALL" for the BIOS
revision, means the motherboard, as originally released, supported
that particular processor.
