CPanel - no longer support FP Ext's ?????

All my sites with one host are now gving me the common 'No FP Ext installed'
whenever I try to access or upload to them with FPage. So I tried to
reinstall them on each site via the CPanel as I would normally do.

It said they were installed - but they still do not work.

The host now tells me the latest upgrade to CPanel - no longer supports
FPage extensions - due to EOL [End Of Life].

This means all FP aspects of each site is not working [Forms, Shared
Borders, Navigation layout etc]

1/ Is anyone else able to confirm it this is true?
2/ Would I have the same problem if I swapped them to a hosting company that
have Windows servers?
3/ Do I need to buy Expression Web and re-write all the sites ? [I
understand Expression web no longer needs FP Extensions]

Any advise would be appreciated

Switch to a Windows 2003 host w/ the FP SE
- the FP SE EOL is only for non windows 2003 servers

Thanks Stefan,

1/ But how long will FP Extensions be supported by hosts with Windows
Servers, before they become EOL.

2/ Am I just putting off the inevitable by moving servers and staying with
FPage.

3/ I am told that even Web Expresssions require 'special' hosting server
software - is this true?

Thanks
Steve

In the very long run ...yes...

3/ I am told that even Web Expresssions require 'special' hosting server

Expression Web does not require anything special ... and in fact any of the
bots though you can see and use them you cannot update or add to thenm.....

You can use your old fp to update to expression web2 ... firstly try a the
trial version which is valid for 60 days.

Even if you were to stay with fp i would recommend that you drop the nav
bots and shared borders at the very least.... and just frontpage includes
(though a bot its considered so useful ms are not getting rid of it ..... in
ew2 you can enable it again from the cutomize menu ... and it works with or
without fpse enabled ..... though differently at publish time ....using them
you can make your own menus and be in control ... see my any-expression.com
or accessfp.net sites the left hand menus are all done with text and
frontpage includes ....

you can open your fp web in ew .. you just browse to it from within ew no
need to import or anything it is wise as always to make a backup of your
site particulary if your using fp coding such as the bots ...

if you want to stay with fp .... just find a host that will be support
them.. tom brunt at outfront.net is very good

Tina

At least until EOL of Windows 2008, since the FP SE have been released for Windows 2008

Yes EW can work with or w/o the FP SE (so can FP, if you don't use features requiring the FP SE)

Steve.... Regarding your original question, the cPanel website offers this
under support when searching for FrontPage:
Per cPanel's website: "Is cPanel continuing to support FrontPage
Extensions? How about on Apache2?
Answer: Yes, cPanel will continue to support FrontPage Extensions for the
forseeable future. Additionally, FrontPage Extensions are supported on Apache
1.3, 2 and 2.2."

.... and my new hosting company uses Apache 1.3 with no real plans to change.

Either they've got it configured wrong, or, it's just an excuse to quit
offering FP Extensions. If you like how things are, I'd suggest a new hosting
company (Linux works fine) that plans to support FP extensions.

.... Rick
