Vista SP2

I close the cover, the machine is sleeping, everything looks good.
Move the mouse, it wakes up and starts running with the cover still
closed.

Any known fixes? I do want the mouse to be able to wake the machine,
but it should not do it with the cover closed.

Thanks,

You haven't mentioned the brand/make/model of laptop - have you tried the
Support for your particular brand of laptop, or the user forums on their web
site? e.g. Acer, HP, Toshiba etc?

This link seems to discuss the same problem but refers to Toshiba rather
than being more general and seems to point to the fact it is a hardware
issue, not Vista.

However it would be better if you approach the support for your particular
laptop - or visit the user forums that discuss the specifics of that
hardware.

Disconnect the mouse before you close the laptop?
Actually it's either disable the mouse turn on or disconnect the mouse--
your choice.
Died in the wool laptopers don't traffic with mice. <G>
(I use a trackball)

My laptop is now my all around machine and I need a traditional mouse
for drawing/graphics work - the built in devices don't cut it. I do
shut off the mouse for travel by when the system is just sitting on a
desk I tend not to.

Coincidentally, it is a Toshiba :-)

I'll check the link, thanks.

Well, it seems most all the solutions are simply "shut off the mouse
wakes up computer" feature. That's not exactly what I wanted, but it
seems like Toshiba forgot to check "if lid closed" before "if mouse
moves" in their code, across many models.
