1. How do I collapse the new ribbon? Can I change the icon size so that
they are not so big?

2. Where did the startup options go?

Two commnets:
1. the new help needs some work. when I click on F1 for help with the a
topic, it takes me to the main help page. I think that the old help engine
was a bit better at finding what I needed when I needed it; but I realize
this is still beta.

2. I'm not sure I like the new DBC. I have to scroll down quite a bit
vertically when dealing with a database with lots of objects, (Even if I have
them grouped by table or if I use custom groups. The nav bar would be better
the icons could be arranged in columns as one resized the nav bar to the
right. As it is, I am switching between views to get where I need to go.

1 Not sure about ribbons ??
Yes you can re-size icons - use the properties - format - height/width options
2 The startup options are on the Tools - Startup menu as you open access.

Sorry Wayne-

I was posting about the Access 2007. This is the forum where the beta
experience website led me to. Thank you for your kind reply. I assure you
they are quite a bit more civil than some who post here who are not even
aware that the beta is public and see fit to make rude comments to folks like
me trying to find answers.

Hi Ken,

Please be as patient with others as you would like them to be with
you. If you don't clearly state at the outset of your post that your
issue is to do with Access 2007 Beta you're just bout asking for
misunderstanding and conflict.

Not everyone bothers with beta releases. They figure that they have
enough to do coping with what's already released. Since Microsoft
doesn't always acknowledge people's attempts to register a complaint
or an idea they figure that MS can do its own work.

The user interface of Access 2007 is such a radical departure from
2003 and before that many of the issues, such as yours in this thread,
have to do with new elements in the user interface. The Ribbon is an
unwelcome challenge to me and the presentation of the objects is also
frustrating. We'll all have to go to school on it.

Most people in the Access newsgroups are kind and considerate, all are
volunteers. However, most responders have other work to do and some
of these have little tolerance for people posting with issues that
have nothing to do with Access or with "Will somebody please repair my
life"? kinds of posts. Because this group is the default for the web
based newsgroups lots and lots of people don't make a newsgroup
selection but send us their woes. :-)

Good luck with your learning of Access 2007. As you discover the ways
to achieve your objectives with it, come back and lurk the newsgroups
ready to help someone else facing an issue you've already solved.

You've committed another sin :-)

I was just over in GettingStarted and see another thread just like
this one going over there. If you're going to post to more than one
group on the same issue then crosspost by simply adding each group in
the Newsgroups window of your newsreader. By that simple means, an
answer in one group is propagated to all of the groups.

You might find www.mvps.orr/access an interesting site to check. Look
for "netiquette" there.
