1. I have a chart with 2 y-axis variables and one x-axis variable, but
the 2 y-axis variables have dramatically different ranges of values.
So I'd like the values for one of the y-axis variable to appear on the
left side of the chart, and the values for the other y-axis variable to
appear on the right side of the chart. Is this possible? In other
words, there will effectively be 2 y-axes.

2. Is it possible to have a chart which takes data from different
sheets in a workbook? That is, the chart will effectively have 3
axes--x, y and z. The z-axis will be across worksheets.

For Question 1.
Assuming you have both data series already on your chart. Right click
on the series that you want the data label on the right hand side of
the chart, and choose "Format Date Series..." on the Axis tab choose
Secondary Axis.

For Question2.
Right click within the chart and choose "Source Data..." (or step 2 of
the charting wizard) Choose the "Series" tab. Click on the icon next
to the Values box then find the data on your spreadsheet that you want
to chart.

I'm not clear on this.

The data that I want to chart is on several worksheets.

I didn't mention that you needed to click on the add to get a new
series.

Once you click on the little icon next to the Values box, you can go to
anywhere in your workbook (or another workbook for that matter)and
choose data to chart against.
