CounterPoint Triggering Security Response All of a Sudden

We have used Outlook 2003 and CounterPoint POS for a few years without
issues, but now when we try to send a PDF file from counterpoint, it triggers
the "program trying to access..." message, and we have to grant access for 1
minute, etc.
Someone said it has something to do with upgrading to ie8, which we also did
recently. Is that it?
