A program called "steam" which runs the game counter-strike has serious compatibility issues with some users on XP like myself. Constantly I receive the message that "Steam has encountered a problem and needs to close, we are sorry for the inconvenience" and its getting old. It happens with other programs I have tried to use, they simply will not run. If you would like to help me, the program steam can be downloaded free at www.steampowered.com. Please, help me.

I scoured their site for known issues with Steam and XP and there
aren't any specific issues out there, however they do have a list of
known issues in general and the prescribed solutions at this URL:

I used to have a similar problem with my PC, and I was told to update both
my sound card & video drivers.

Haven't had the problem since...
