This is driving me crazy. I need to count values in one column only when a criteria is met in another column. Here's an example.

Column A
X
X
X
Y
Y
Y

Column B
2
3
2
2
3
3

I need a function that will count X2, X3, Y2, and Y3 separately. A Pivot table would work, but I don't think you can make a pivot table automatically populate as new data is entered. I've been playing around with SUMPRODUCT but I keep getting a VALUE error. Any help would be appreciated!
