Count of all Records

I have a report that is generated in columns. I have groupings and in
the group footer I have a count for the number of items in that group.
In the Report Footer, I have a count of ALL items in the report. Works
great ... except:

The report ends on a short 3rd column, which is forcing the Report
Footer's total count onto a page of its own. If the report ends in
column 1, the Report Footer shows up right at the end of the column.

HELP!! This is driving me mad. Is there a way to get the Report
Footer to show up at the bottom or the third column instead of on the
following page all by itself?
