Here's a weird one, folks!

I had a problem and had to do a 'clean install' of XP/Pro and SP2. Now,
when I start the computer, many of the services which are set as "Automatic"
do not start. I have to go into the Admin Tools and start them myself. I've
looked at MSCONFIG to see if it was involved, but - not so.

Any ideas? This is a strange one...

I checked (and reinstalled them a second time) to insure my chipset drivers
for the mobo were installed, but I'm also getting another oddity: the video
card won't allow me to engage any Direct3D or other accelleration, either.
I've done everything I can think of, but come up empty-handed. I don't even
have the "Enable" buttons highlighted in DXDIAG, and I checked to insure that
the full hardware accelleration is 'on' in the Display CP.
