Hi ,
I'v been handed a Word document, a brochure of products, about a 100 !
- , made specifically for printing, but is now ready to be included on
a web site, and I'm trying to come up with a good way to do this ~ it'd
make for a very long web page if I were to lay it out "as-is", I'd
love to make use of somethign like "DeskTop Author", but it's just a
bit too costly for me - specially if it's going to get quite limited
use - but yeah - that kinda idea would look good! and instead of
presenting the brochure in it's entirety on a web site - I could make
the brochure a downloadable item, ~ which yes... I could make the Word
doc as the download ~ but who wants to scroll down a long list of
items, pics and descriptions, could be - but I'd prefer if possible to
be a little more creative than that - and make it something more
interesting for the visitor. (also might add paypal purchase button
beside each item - though th esite will have an order form to print
and mail in)
many thanks. thoughts n ideas appreciated.

yeah I could do... but I don't think there's any benefit tween that
and a normal web page,
you'd still be scrolling down through a long'ish file - though..
just as i'm writing.. yep it could have an advantage maybe... then
again maybe not.. was thinking of links at the header - click n go
straight to particular product range ~ but can do the same on a web
page... could be a whole lot better if a person wanted to print it of
course - better than a web page.... I'll have a think on that one -
a PDF could have a couple of positives over HTML - still looking
around to see if there is any other software alternatives comparable to
Desktop Author. (though I don't think it'd be printable from)~(but
nice for viewing)

There is nothing preventing you from breaking up the Word Doc into meaningful separate pages in FP w/ navigation between the pages
- just make multiple copies of the doc as html and edit out what you don't want on each page
- and possibly offer the whole brochure as a PDF download
To convert from Word see http://sbrenjoy.bizland.com/frontpage/word.htm
