Hello:

We have a mature Acc2003 app which out of the clear blue, started
exhibiting"-2147217865: Could not execute query; could not find linked table"
error when executing. I have decompiled, compacted/repaired, used linked
table mgr, deleteted the link and reestablished and the error keeps coming
back. This is maddening. Would anyone have any clue as to how to diagnose
this?

The back end table is an Oracle 9.2.0.8.0 table. Sometimes, reestablishing
the link would work. It no longer seems to. I also check "save password"
when reestablishing the link.

any help would be appreciated. thank you

You are most likely dropping connections. That could be a hardware problem,
or the Oracle admin could have made changes which are causing the drop.
Strictly speaking, the problem is outside the realm of the Access
application. Have IT check the NICs on the machines with the problems. If
it's all of them, it is most likely a switch, router, or server NIC, or an
Oracle problem. Once you are assured of your hardware, check the Oracle
Connection Manager for timeouts, etc.

Thanks Arvin, but I have the feeling this is not the problem. I can login to
the Oracle db fine in Sql*Plus anytime. Access works fine as well once I
reestablish the link. But as soon as I close the access app and reopen, the
link is broken again. Doesn't this sound like some problem in Access?

Sounds more like an ODBC problem. I'd still check the Oracle Connection
Manager.
