I purchased a TV Tuner after making sure it is compatible with vista, please

After connecting it, Windows couldn't identify the device, and when i tried
to choose the driver manually, I found that Animation Technologies and
Lifeview aren't on the manufacturer's list at all in the driver database...

How could that happen? The manufacturer isn't providing a driver for vista
as vista recognized it automatically (and this is true according to the link
above) but when coming to practical, There is nothing available.

I suspected that the tuner is defective and went to the store where we tried
it on XP and it worked......

What can I do now? Is there a way I can get the INF file missing from my
version of windows through microsoft's website?
Does anyone have any other ideas? any comments are appreciated

Compatible with Vista does not mean that it will work with all applications
that are included in Vista such as only that it will work with the vendor's
own application.
You need a card that it is Certified to work with Vista to insure it will
work with MC.

There is a big difference between Vista Compatible and Vista Certified -
especially when there is a footnote that presents additional problems and
cautions.

Thank you for replying
But I made sure there are no footnotes indicating additional errors.... and
the supplier software is not working for vista, i have to use another
software,, so I do need the driver and i think everything will work
any ideas?

the problem be? as far as i know, compatible means working with no problems
except that some secondary feautres may not work (maybe the remote control),
and certified means all feautres work correctly, am i wrong?

So sorry, but this is right in the link that you posted. I guess you didn't
read it though.

I'm sorry there is a typo in my above response.
Compatible does NOT mean it will work with MC. It only means that the
drivers for the card will work with Vista and most likely that any
applications supplied by the card manufacturer such as the manufacturers own
TV application will work with Vista.
Only Certified means that it will work with Vista.

Even Certified does not mean that all built in MS applications such as Media
Center are fully supported by the product.
For example in Europe you can purchase a Hybrid tuner card with an analog
tuner and a DVB-T (digital OTA) tuner and in many cases only the DVB-T tuner
works with Media Center since the analog tuner does not come with a built in
MPEG2 encoder chip.
