I have recently been encountering a large number of Word document corruptions
on our two node cluster which is running in an active - active configuration.

Users are reporting that Word documents are freezing and becoming
unresponsive, sometimes when trying to save changes a message such as "the
document has become corrupted, do you want to recover the document" is
displayed when they select to recover the document it fails and goes into a
loop asking if they want to recover the document again again, the only way to
exit the document is to open taks manager and end the task thereby losing the
document. Users are also experiencing corruption in terms of large portions
of text changing to ASCII characters and also tables within Word documents
are also changing to ASCII characters.

In addition to these corruptions file permissions are also being dropped.
Users will report that they don't have access to a folder anymore and when
inspecting the file permissions it is discovered that, where a user had
specifically been granted permission to the folder their user account object
has been replaced by a SID. The SID needs to be removed the the permissions
re-applied after which the user has access again.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why these problems are occurring.
