i posted a msg on here 4\14 about a corrupted windows installer problem. i
just found an xp home cd sp1 that i got with my dell pc 6 yrs ago that i
never used. QUESTION: can i use the xp cd sp1 to perform a repair of the
corrupted windows installer on a custom built pc which i never got an xp cd
with when purchased 3 yrs ago?? my new pc has of course sp3, but that
should'nt matter should it? and if i can do repair, what are the steps i need
to follow? THANX for your time/help anyone.

***THANX for the quick reply DL. someone on another forum said it probably
wouldn't work either since it would ask for an activation code & i couldn't
just repair the one damaged file. i have RestoreIT software which i've use
before(works great, better than xp restore), so i'll just have to restore
back to the first static point & reload my backup cd's.
