Upon reinstalling Symantec's Norton personal Firewall I
get the following message,
"This MSI must be installed through setup"

Symnatec support suggested the following link from
Micrsoft

Title: 'How to reinstall the Microsoft Installer'
Document ID: 2001112111324439
> Web URL:

http://service1.symantec.com/Support...o.nsf/docid/20
01112111324439 which also failed with the same ""This MSI
must be installed through setup" upon re-installing Norton
Personal Firewall.

Also
Reinstalling MSI on its own using version 2.0 reports the
service is already running, though there is no service
under that name.

Could you let me know if there is another way of doing a
clean reinstall of msi.

Cheers, Jaz

Not sure, but it sounds to me like the message is suggesting that you need to
run the install by running a Setup.exe that came with it. If that doesn't do
it, escalating the issue with Norton would be your best bet.

Make sure you're not installing it from a Terminal Services type of environment,
and if you are, make sure you're in install mode (go through Add/Remove Programs
to get to the MSI file).
