Hi All

I am having problems with IE on my computer. When I attempt to load IE up I
get my homepage but then IE chrashes. MSN messenger does the same upon
loading.
I think I have traced the problem to my history folder. If I try and open
this in windows explorer, windows explorer chrashes. I have tried scanning
the folder with Norton and this says it is ok, however when Adaware tries to
scan the folder it freezes.

I have tried
1. the clearIEcash program from microsoft.
2. manually deleating the typed URL's in the Registry directory (they have
gone from there but if you look at the properties of the history folder files
are still shown,)

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Jonathan

Operating system XP Home Eddition on a Dell PC

Running IE6

I know internet is ok as currently using fire fox.

Very similar problem to
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/...=en-US&m=1&p=1

Tried this and has failed.

This section...
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem in Internet Explorer, follow these steps:
1. Quit all programs that are running.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message,
click OK.
If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of
the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file
names below): • Shdocvw.dll
• Actxprxy.dll
• Oleaut32.dll
• Mshtml.dll
• Browseui.dll
• Shell32.dll

I have also just tried "historyeraser" this crashed when it tried to delete
and replace the history folder.

thanks

Jonathan

Hi Jalm :-)

Your computer is infected. Be aware, your Anti-Virus won't detect all types
of warez, Trojans, worms, etc. So even if you run it, and nothing shows up,
it does not mean your system is clean. It takes a series of programs to
fully clean your machine. Work through the steps below to fully clean your
system:

Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:

Checking for/Help with Hijackware

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

Hope this helps.
