I have installed window XP Home edition on my corrupted
hard disk. As Window XP is a product activation system,
can i install Window XP on a new hard disk in the same
computer.

If you buy a new Hard drive for the same PC AND you have a full retail version of XP it is within your usage rights.

If it is an OEM edition of XP you are in violation of the EULA to install XP on an 'upgraded' environment [be it HDD, CPU or MOBO].

Wrong answer. The OEM is tied to the system, but repairs
are allowed. Replacing a hard drive is certainly a repair.
CPU upgrades are also allowed, the question will arise with
a replacement mobo/BIOS. The OEM may be BIOS locked, in
other words Dell wants Dell OEM Windows on a Dell mobo, and
HP wants a HP BIOS on the mobo, etc.

If you have a MS branded OEM Windows, it is tied to the
system and enforced by WPA. Even then upgrades are allowed
and authorized by a call to MS.
