hi

I am running WinXP Pro SP2 with the following hardware

AMD athlon xp
Asus A7N8X v1.04 (nforce2)
Leadtek Geforce 6600 AGP
BenQ FP92W widescreen (DVI, 1440x900)

The problem started when WinXP detected some problem with c: and ran a
chkdsk by itself.

after that, I could never get a proper 1440x900 display in normal mode.
"Enable VGA Mode" looks fine though.

I've tried uninstalling the nvida Forceware drivers, cleaned with Driver
Cleaner and tried 3 versions of Forceware in total, but the problem still
exists.

In normal mode, my LCD's OSD says that it's running at 800x600 60Hz.

In VGA mode, the OSD says 1440x900 75Hz.

any ideas?

thanks

have you loaded an .inf file for the monitor from BenQ?

I rebooted into SAFE M O D E after deleting the %temp files. Then I had to
order a new AGP.

I had to reboot. Then reinstall the Drivers after I installed a new AGP
card. This seems to solve the diaplay problems.

The new AGP came in today and I hope it speeds up Pinnacle Plus vs 10 and
this new Panasonic Camcorder which I do not know how to use.

But maybe the AGP will make this New Orleans movie work faster and quit
dragging its feet.

Hi, thanks all for reply.

I've tried changing the display inf to "Plug & Play Monitor" and ran "sfc
/scannow" but i still get a corrupted display in normal mode.

DX9c refuses to reinstall too.

I think chkdsk broke some critical files.

Now i'll try the AGP/mobo drivers when I get home.

hi,

i've tried reinstalling nforce2 drivers, but still the same.

I can still play Need For Speed: Carbom in "Enable VGA Mode", so i think
i'll leave things as they are for the time being.

thanks all.
