      1st Mar 2006
Hello. I created a new profile. How can I copy the setup for the original
profile to my new profile? ANy way to tell what file is corrupt in the
original profile?

I see you got the stuff to work.

I suggest NOT trying to move settings over. Documents and favorites and
such - sure.. But not settings - as it is likely the corrupt areas are in
the registry or settings files of your old profile - unlikely that they are
in your documents/files/pictures/emails/spreadsheets/favorites/etc.

You can take ownership of the files/folders for your old profile.. Then you
can go through the profile (particularly the documents and desktop and
favorites folders) and copy what you need to your new profile directory.

(C:\Documents and Settings\ is the folder where the profiles are stored.)

Create another account and reboot. Log into that new account leaving
your old and new untouched. Copy from old to new. Do not copy the
temp, or the temporary internet files folders to your new profile. the
problem is most likely in those folders.

When done, remove the newly created account.
