Corrupt User Profile in XP Pro and error in copying to new profile

Last night I logged on to a different user profile and received an error
message indicating the profile was corrupt.

I ran a system restore, but the computer froze completely while the profile
was loading after the restore. After I shut it off and loaded the profile,
some things work and some don't. For example, I can't pin anything to the
Start menu; the left side of it remains blank.

When I load the non-corrupted profiles, I get a confirmation that the
restore completed successfully.

Now I am trying to copy the contents of the corrupted profile to a new
profile. But when I go to User Profiles in Control Panel and click Copy To,
it gives me this error message:

"Failed to set security on the destination profile. Error -- Access is
denied."

What do I do in this situation?

there is a free download from microsoft.com called "profile hive
cleaner".... It will probably help you with the "known" issue...I have it
installed and have not encountered any problems with it...
