I am running Office2003 on Vista.
Outlook stops working when I try to carry out any higher functions (Create
new Data file, export pst file) I also cannot run Office Assistant, system
tells me it needs Microsoft Agent 2.0 (available on setup disc {apparently, I
cant find it or do anything with it}
I have exported everything except my inbox as Excel (Calendar) or Access
(Contacts) files, but I cannot export to a pst file without either Outlook
stopping and re-starting or getting a message "the messaging interface has
returned an unknown message" and then re-starting. Can someome tell me what
to do to get a fresh copy of Outlook2003 so I can import Contacts & Calendar?

Hi Ian,

I prefer to create a new Outlook Profile:

How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2003?:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=829918

If it works with a new profile, you can "import" your items, but I prefer to
open the "old" PST and then you can move your items from one PST to the
other.

How to reconnect your "old" PST file in a new profil?
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...8921033.aspx#4

Maybe it helps.

Hi Oliver, tried creating a new profile, each time I could not open Outlook
("Unable to open your default mail folder" was the reply). I know I have
seriously messed with Outlook because I think it is the OS not the pst file
that is a problem. Will copying everything out of "Outlook" file elsewhere
and then removing & re-installing Outlook achieve anything?

Back again. Bit the bullett, un-installed Outlook & re-installed it. But you
already know that made no difference! Couldn't get it to start untill I
restored the filed I deleted in C:users etc.
Anything I try to do requiring a higher action from Outlook simply stops it
and restarts it (Outlook) Emails work just fine, but I cannot interact with
other programs (Access, Word etc.)
Cannot backup, create new PST, export (pst files).
Don't realy want to upgrade tp Office2007.
Any suggestions?

Dear Ian,

[...]
....(Outlook) Emails work just fine, but I cannot interact with
other programs (Access, Word etc.)

You work completly with Office 2003, right?

Not with Office 2003 but Outlook 2002?

Please, could you check the Outlook version.

If you create another (new) Windows User Profile, do you have the same
behavior?

Hi Oliver,

Yes, completely with Office 2003 (on Vista) and definately Outlook 2003 (SP3)

When I create another profile I get "Unable to open default e-mail folders.
The information store could not be opened". Clicking OK closed Outlook.
Email test works and I did select new profile as a default.
Also I cannot delete Personal Floders (1). I cannot export anything as a
"File", I have exported Calander & Contacts as Excel files. I would like to
save the inbox if I can, but I cannot export it. Just copy.

Hi,for a file corrupted problem, you can try a popular Outlook recovery tool called Advanced Outlook Repair to repair your PST file. It is a powerful tool to recover messages, folders and other objects from corrupt or damaged Microsoft Outlook PST files.

Detailed information about Advanced Outlook Repair can be found at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/
