Corrupt profile...how can I get to my outlook?

When I attempt to log on, I receive a message stating that my profile is
corrupt. I have tried a couple of cures to no avail. I am the administrator
and was able to access my files and documents by using explore on the
start-up bar. There, too, I can get to my desktop settings and access
Outlook. But when I open Outlook from my previous desktop page, it just
brings up the start up page to configure a new account. I can understand
that this is because it does not have my profile. However, is there any way
for me to open and / or retrieve my contacts and emails from my account? I
have not yet created a new one.

Which were? How can we suggest answers when you don't tell us what you've
tried?

Create a new profile in Control Panel-Mail-Show profiles-Add and attach your
existing pst file to it...

If you mean you receive the err when opening OL, use the Mail Applet in the
Control Panel to create a new Profile (not copy) add your data file &
accounts and test
However I fear you may mean your Win 'user account' is corrupt, and if that
is the case you should post to a group that supports your o/s

Running 2003 Microsoft
The corrupt profile message appears when I initially attempt to log onto the
machine: "Windows cannot load the locally stored profle. Possible causes of
tis error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile..."
DETAIL - anI/O operation initiated by the registry failed unrecoverablyl..."
What I have done:
1.) Increased the virtual memory (based on recommendations in a Microsoft
discussion group) with hopes that my profile would load. Didn't work.
Returned virtual memory to suggested level.
2.) Conducted a virus scan intended to look more deeply at a virus issue
directed at my profile since no one else's profile on the compter has been
affected. Nothing there.

Thank you for your time and consideration of my problem.

Then it's not an Outlook problem - I suggest you re-post to a group specific
to your operating system, quoting the error message in full.

That is as I thought a Windows error, not an Outlook error
Post your question, with these latest details given, to a group that
supports your version of windows, ie Windows2000, windowsXP or even Vista,
for the various recovery methods
