My wife seems unable to tell me how long this has been going on for, but her
computer seems to be corrupting image files we have taken with out digital
camera. They are saved to our network storage device and are uncorrupted at
that location. When I download them to her computer the image becomes
corrupt. There are horizontal bars across the image, discoloration and
skewing of the photo. I have tried everything to fix this problem on my own
and spent weeks browsing the internet for a solution without success. I have
replaced the monitor, video card, power supply and rolled every driver in the
machine forward and backward a dozen times. The machine runs XP Pro SP2 and
is fully updated. Somehow the image is file is being corrupted on her
machine. If I view the files on the storage device instead of downloading
them they appear corrupt on her computer as well. Having made more trips up
and down the stairs than I care to repeat I can say without worry that the
files on the storage device are undamaged. Anyone heard of this before? I
read about an old issue with XP (pre sp1) that seemed to be similar to this
but the issue was fixed in a subsequent service pack. I'm at a loss for what
to do next.

Had similar problem with files when I attached my camera (Kodak DX3500 with
a camera dock) to the PC via a USB hub. The hub is supposed to be 2.0 (I
believe this to be true, but...). However the PC has two sets of USB
attachments, one set are definitely 2.0, the other set may well be 1.2 (my
Seagate USB drivers complain when attached to either of these ports). The
camera is normally attached directly to a port (not the 2.0 ones), and that
way has no problem, so the camera dock works OK with the PC directly. I no
longer go through the extra 4 port hub when collecting images!
