Corrupt or Missing file

I restored my computer to an earlier date and it appeared as if everything
restored fine. After shutting down system and then trying to restart I got
following msg..."Windows could not start because yhje following file was
missing or corrupt <Windows root>\system32\nyoskrnl.exe. Please re-install a
copy of the above file. I am away from home with this sytem and do not have
restore disk with me...can anyone offer suggestion...Thanks....Dave

You'll need to get an XP installation CD to go into the recovery console to
replace that file. If a service pack is installed, SP1 or SP2, which should
be the case, that file can be replaced from the
C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\\i386 folder by booting something like a BartPE
disk.
