On booting up my computer I get an error message that states
<windows>system32\hal.dll is missing or corrupt as part of the boot.ini. I
tried safe mode options without any luck. I don't want to reformat and
reinstall windows. Is there anyway to correct this file?

Go to Kelly's site at http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm. Click on
"H" and scroll to "HAL.DLL is missing" for troubleshooting tips.

John, Thanks that worked on the original boot.ini error but now I have the
same error but related to windows root. Should I repeat the steps in
c:\windows?
