Corrupt icons, mouse pointer and logos

None of my application icons on my desktop are displaying
correctly. Each application displays the appropiate icon
but the icon is only partially rendered. In addition the
windows logo on start up, icons on the start menu and
system tray and the mouse pointer are all corrupted.

Texts and graphics on websites and within aplications are
ok.
